Here is the official WB press release:
BURBANK, CA, January 19, 2011 – Warner Bros. Pictures announced today that Anne Hathaway has been cast as Selina Kyle in Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight Rises.” She will be starring alongside Christian Bale, who returns in the title role of Bruce Wayne/Batman.
Christopher Nolan stated, “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Anne Hathaway, who will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story.”
In addition, Tom Hardy has been set to play Bane. Nolan said, “I am delighted to be working with Tom again and excited to watch him bring to life our new interpretation of one of Batman’s most formidable enemies.”
Nolan will direct the film from a screenplay he wrote with Jonathan Nolan, from a story by Christopher Nolan and David S. Goyer. Nolan will also produce the film with his longtime producing partner, Emma Thomas, and Charles Roven.
“The Dark Knight Rises” is slated for release on July 20, 2012. The film will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.
It’s been known for a while that Tom Hardy will star in the movie, but much speculation has pointed him more in the direction of Batman villain “Hugo Strange.” More recently, Anne Hathaway’s name has popped up here and there, sparking rumors that she will star as Talia al Ghul, the daughter of Liam Neeson’s character Ra’s al Ghul from the first film.
What do you think Moguls? Are you ready for Anne Hathaway in a tight black leather outfit? Are you ready for Christian Bale and Tom Hardy in tight leather outfits for that matter? Sound off? Good choice?

  1. I think both are excellent choices.
If you haven’t seen Hardy’s performance in “Bronson”, I urge you to check it out. Not only will it better prepare you for his role as Bane, it’s an intense and rewarding cinematic experience.
There’s little point in trying to project these actors into everything we know about Catwoman and Bane, what Nolan delivers will be something vastly different from fanboy canon.

I wouldn’t be too surprised to find that we never hear the name “Catwoman” uttered in the film, unless it comes at the very end.

  2. Me no happy. Me think Bane lame. Me think Bane make up for lack of good writing. Me think Bane attempt to cash in kill your heroes craze. Me think Catwoman done, especially after Pitof. Pitof bad.

Why me talk like this? Bane no talk like this. Catwoman no talk like this.
    Why me talk like this?

    Me no know.
