Armchair Mogul
The (backseat) driving force behind Hollywood. Way behind.

IRON WORKS. (but will it work again?)

First, let’s get the obvious out of the way. (deep breath – inhale pink)

OhmyGodOhmyGodOhmyGod!!!  Badassery ABOUNDS!!!!  My geek cup runneth the eff OVER!

Okay. (exhale blue)

Now that we’ve got that out of your (by which I mean “my”) system…

The first Iron Man movie was a success on every level: Engaging plot, seamless effects, top shelf acting and confident direction.

It took a character my mom never heard of and made him one of her favorites – right next to Nightcrawler (don’t ask me).

But how about this next one?

I think it’s safe to say Hollywood’s got the sequel thing down pretty good, particularly when it comes to comic book movies (3quels are unfortunately, a different story), so there’s no reason to think this outing won’t also be an incredible commercial and creative success, so long as they remember what made the first one SO satisfying…heart.  And in Tony Starks case, this is both figurative and literal.

As long as the characters remain central to the story and they don’t let the effects take center stage, we should be good.

2 years ago, I would’ve thought battle armored-sidekick-by-way-of  “War Machine” would be a tough sell for general audiences, but now…I’m not so sure.

What do you think, Moguls?  Is 2 better than 1?

P.S. homina homina homina…

  1. When done correctly…2 is always better than 1. X-Men 2, Superman 2, Empire Strikes Back…. when done like most sequels, it’s never better.

I’m looking forward to Iron Man 2 because I love just about everyone involved. I’m not even bummed about the War Machine recasting anymore, I’m kinda liking it now.

  2. x men is cool loveit so much lol

  3. My family every time say that I am wasting
my time here at net, except I know I am getting familiarity all the time by
reading thes good articles or reviews.
